Mayfield gets its 500th victory
The lowdown
On a rainy Oct. 27, Mayfield defeated Riverside in its 2017 regular-season finale, 48-7. The win was Mayfield’s 500th in school history.
The Wildcats set the tone in the first half, scoring 29 points. The key play was an interception returned for a touchdown by senior Dominic DiPippo for 100 yards— the longest play in school history.
However, the first half was not all Wildcats as the Beavers added a touchdown on a 10-yard completion from senior quarterback Nate Sleek to junior wide receiver Michael Wojkowski. They also were able to recover two Mayfield fumbles, but were unable to score.
Unfortunately for the Beavers, that first-quarter touchdown was their only score for the game. Mayfield added three more touchdowns in the second half, effectively putting the game away.
