Brown: Front office hasn’t delivered
Browns Executive Vice President of Football Operations Sashi Brown addressed the media Nov. 6. Here are some highlights from the 26-minute news conference: • ON BEING 0-8 IN 2017 AND 1-23 OVER THE LAST SEASON AND A HALF » “Pleased with guys’ work ethic, both coaching staff and the players, but really disappointed that at the end of the day we haven’t come away with the clock stopped with a victory this season. Our expectations are much higher than that.
“At the end of the day, it’s my job to deliver a roster talented enough to win week in and week out, and we haven’t done that yet. We’re confident as we move forward we’ll be able to add the requisite talent to bring this roster back to being a contender for this division and beyond, but we’re not there yet. We have to own that and we will.” • ON THE BOTCHED A.J. MCCARRON TRADE WITH CINCINNATI » “It’s a lot simpler than what’s been written. This is just a matter of getting to a deal too late in the process. Both Cincinnati and we tried to get the paperwork in at the last minute. We’re talking about minutes and seconds . ... There’s no paperwork either side got in that would have allowed a deal to happen. It’s truly that simple.” • ON CHARGES THE FRONT OFFICE “SABOTAGED” THE MCCARRON TRADE » “That’s not the case.
