Browns Executive Vice President of Football Operations Sashi Brown addressed the media Nov. 6. Here are some highlights from the 26-minute news conference: • ON BEING 0-8 IN 2017 AND 1-23 OVER THE LAST SEASON AND A HALF » “Pleased with guys’ work ethic, both coaching staff and the players, but really disappointed that at the end of the day we haven’t come away with the clock stopped with a victory this season. Our expectations are much higher than that.

“At the end of the day, it’s my job to deliver a roster talented enough to win week in and week out, and we haven’t done that yet. We’re confident as we move forward we’ll be able to add the requisite talent to bring this roster back to being a contender for this division and beyond, but we’re not there yet. We have to own that and we will.” • ON THE BOTCHED A.J. MCCARRON TRADE WITH CINCINNATI » “It’s a lot simpler than what’s been written. This is just a matter of getting to a deal too late in the process. Both Cincinnati and we tried to get the paperwork in at the last minute. We’re talking about minutes and seconds . ... There’s no paperwork either side got in that would have allowed a deal to happen. It’s truly that simple.” • ON CHARGES THE FRONT OFFICE “SABOTAGED” THE MCCARRON TRADE » “That’s not the case. That’s nothing we

would ever do . ... We were all disappointed it didn’t happen.” • ON WHETHER BROWN TALKED TO THE PATRIOTS ABOUT JIMMY GAROPPOLO BEFORE NEW ENGLAND TRADED GAROPPOLO TO THE 49ERS » “Under league rules, I can’t comment on interest in another player and wouldn’t comment on what comments we did or did not have with the Patriots. You shouldn’t read into that one way or the other.” • ON PASSING ON QUARTERBACK CARSON WENTZ IN 2016 » “You take your hats off to both players who are off to hot starts in their young careers . ... I’m not going to comment on Carson. For us, the focus has to be, ‘What can we learn from that that can help our decision?’ ” • ON WHAT HE LEARNED CONSIDERING HE PASSED ON DESHAUN WATSON IN 2017 » “... I don’t shy away from missed opportunities. We’re not going to get every one right. We will get enough of them right and we will solve the quarterback position.”
