Chairman reappointed to port authority board
The Lake County commissioners have reappointed the port authority’s current board chairman, Art Lindrose, to serve another four-year term on the board.
Lindrose, president of the Bolton Pratt Company, was first appointed to the Lake County Ohio Port and Economic Development Authority Board in 2013. His term was set to expire at the end of the year, but now his new term runs through Dec. 31, 2021.
This year Lindrose served as the chairman of the board, taking over for Chris Madison, the lone original member of the board that formed in 2007.
“I have been honored to serve as Chairman of the Lake County Port and Economic Development Authority for the past year,” Lindrose said in his letter to the commissioners seeking reappointment. “I feel strongly that the port, working closely with the commissioner’s office, will continue to provide economic growth and opportunity for Lake County residents and businesses alike for years to come.”
The county commissioners are also seeking a replacement for Rita McMahon, who stepped down from the board at the end of October because she is moving out of the county.
“We’re obviously looking at quality candidates, so if anyone wants to be part of the process for due consideration, send us a resume, send us a letter of intent,” Commissioner John R. Hamercheck said.
When she announced she was stepping down from the board, McMahon, who spent 15 years as Painesville city manager, said she suggested they pick someone with public sector experience.
McMahon was the lone female member of the board, and Commissioner Daniel P. Troy said he’d like to see female candidates take on the position.
“We’ve always had at least one female member of the port authority,” Troy said.
“We currently have nine seats filled and they’re all male, so certainly this commissioner would be interested if there’s anyone out there in the community interested from that particular 53 percent of our American population that wants to step forward and do this.”
McMahon’s replacement will serve the remainder of her term, which runs through 2020.
