Cat sanctuary to be honored by state rep.
State Rep. Sarah LaTourette will present a proclamation recognizing the Chester Township-based Happy Tails Cat Sanctuary’s 35 years of cat rescue during an event on Dec. 2 at Pet Supplies Plus, 425 Water St., Chardon.
The event, which will include a cat adopt-a-thon, refreshments, Chinese auction items, and a 50-50 raffle, will take place from 1 to 4 p.m. LaTourette’s official recognition of the cat sanctuary will occur at 3 p.m.
In addition to hosting the event, Pet Supplies Plus will donate some of the Chinese auction items. Refreshments will be donated by Patterson’s Farm Market in Chester and by Buckeye Chocolate Cafe and the Subway Restaurant on Water Street in Chardon.
Cats of varying ages will be available for adoption.
“I am delighted to present a letter of commendation to Happy Tails Cat Sanctuary,” LaTourette said. “This feline rescue operation has been serving our community for over 35 years, and I count it as a great honor to be able to recognize their tireless efforts to help needy cats in Northeast Ohio.”
Those who can’t attend the Dec. 2 event, but would like to help the all-volunteer, mostly cageless, nonprofit sanctuary, can send tax-deductible donations to: Happy Tails Cat Sanctuary, P.O. Box 581, Chesterland, OH 44026.
