YSU students earn scholarships
Youngstown State University has recognized more than 300 first-year students with Martin Luther King Merit Awards and/or Trailblazer Scholarships.
The following local YSU students are recipients:
• Justin Babic of Perry was awarded a Trailblazer Scholarship. Babic is a Perry High School graduate and a Undeclared Business major at YSU.
• Breya Hall-McDuffie of Cleveland was awarded a Trailblazer Scholarship. Hall-McDuffie is a Cleveland Central Catholic High School graduate and a Forensic Science major at YSU.
• Melvin Jackson of Cleveland was awarded a Trailblazer Scholarship. Jackson is a St. Edward High School graduate and a Pre Business Marketing major at YSU.
• Kaylin Jones of Cleveland was awarded a Trailblazer Scholarship. Jones is a Saint Martin de Porres High School graduate and a Criminal Justice Bachelors major at YSU.
• TaShana Kent of Cleveland was awarded a Trailblazer Scholarship. Kent is a Saint Martin de Porres High School graduate and a STEM Engineering A major at YSU.
• Nylauna Petty of Beachwood was awarded a Trailblazer Scholarship. Petty is a Beachwood High School graduate and a Pre Nursing major at YSU.
• Jasmine Rollins of Euclid was awarded a Trailblazer Scholarship. Rollins is a Euclid Senior High School graduate and a Forensic Science major at YSU.
• Tyshae Williams of Cleveland was awarded a Trailblazer Scholarship. Williams is a Collinwood High School graduate and a Undeclared Business major at YSU.
The MLK Merit Award is a $1, 000 merit-based award for new high school graduates of local innercity schools, and the Trailblazer Scholarship is a $2, 000 scholarship for freshmen that aims to encourage outstanding students from diverse backgrounds.
