Willoughby police are looking to identify four suspects accused of an attempted fraudulent credit card purchase, a purse snatching and ramming another vehicle on Nov. 21.

The four suspects involved are also believed to be involved in a kidnapping and stolen vehicle incident in Cleveland, according to Willoughby police.

The Willoughby incident occurred around 5 p.m. at TJ Maxx, 35101 Euclid Ave. Police were alerted to the four men attempting to purchase more than $700 worth of merchandise with a possible fraudulent credit card.

The suspects fled in a silver SUV after the purchase was denied.

Police said several minutes later, they received a 911 call from a woman who said a man had just stolen her purse in the parking lot of Giant Eagle. A witness then said the suspect took off in a silver SUV which fled the parking lot onto Euclid Avenue.

Willoughby police dispatch observed the suspect vehicle turn around in the police department parking lot and obtained the vehicle registration, which returned on a silver 2006 BMW X5, Ohio registration GUB7288, which was reported stolen out of Cleveland.

The BMW was spotted several minutes later parked in front of GameStop in the Target parking lot by a Willoughby detective.

As officers arrived on the scene, the four suspects got into the BMW and pulled out of its parking space, striking the passenger side of a Hummer H3.

The BMW fled out onto Beidler Road southbound to Euclid Avenue. It then fled westbound on Euclid Avenue as Willoughby officers attempted to stop the vehicle with their lights and sirens. The SUV continued westbound on Euclid Avenue back into Cleveland.

No one was injured during the incidents.

After the incident, Willoughby police learned that two small children were initially kidnapped during the vehicle theft in Cleveland.

Anyone with information is asked to call Detective Burrington at 440953-4210.
