• U.S. Air Force Airman James R. Hocker graduated from basic military training at Joint Base San Antonio-Lackland, San Antonio, Texas.
The airman completed an intensive, eight-week program that included training in military discipline and studies, Air Force core values, physical fitness, and basic warfare principles and skills.
Airmen who complete basic training also earn four credits toward an associate in applied science degree through the Community College of the Air Force.
Hocker is the son of Frank L. Hocker of South Euclid, and Holly C. Hocker of South Euclid.
He is a 2017 graduate of Charles F. Brush High School, Lyndhurst.
• U.S. Air Force Airman 1st Class Sydney D. Shanaberger graduated from basic military training at Joint Base San Antonio Lackland, San Antonio, Texas.
The airman completed an intensive, eight-week program that included training in military discipline and studies, Air Force core values, physical fitness, and basic warfare principles and skills.
Shanaberger is the daughter of Eric Shanaberger and step-daughter of Viki Syvertsen of Solon and sister of Kelly Purcell of Willoughby Hills, Darby Shanaberger and Nate Pompe of Columbus, and Bryan Purcell of Willoughby Hills.
Shanaberger is a 2014 graduate of Mayfield High School.
