Local students earn scholarships
Students from the area were among more than 600 students who earned endowed scholarships at Baldwin Wallace University this fall.
BW has a long history of endowed scholarship support from alumni, faculty, trustees and friends. More than 385 named scholarships provide over $3 million to help students attend, persist and graduate from BW. Endowed scholarships vary in their requirements with many specifying financial need, a course of study, involvement on campus or a commitment to excellence in a particular field.
The following local students earned endowed scholarships:
• Nabil Abad of Mentor, a graduate of Mentor High School majoring in music composition, earned the E.S. & M.R. Griffiths Scholarship.
• Daixuan Ai of Willoughby, a graduate of Andrews Osborne Academy majoring in keyboard performance and music composition, earned the Robert D. Neuhard Music Scholarship.
• Rithe Arnold of Cleveland, a graduate of Khartoum International Community School majoring in philosophy, earned the Peter & Eleanore Kleist Scholarship.
• Collin Birk of Painesville, a graduate of Riverside High School majoring in accounting and business administration, earned the Gene Zito Scholarship.
• Jacob Boyd of Willoughby, a graduate of Kirtland High School majoring in management, earned the William E. Harris Scholarship.
• Michael Czubaj of Eastlake, a graduate of Willoughby South High School majoring in music education, earned the Jacquelyn Jean Fynes Scholarship.
• Alexander Dempsey of Madison, a graduate of Madison High School, earned the Theodore S. Bogardus Scholarship.
• Gabriella Drago of Mentor, a graduate of Mentor High School majoring in music therapy, earned the Dr. Nancy Frick Memorial Scholarship and the Drs. Edward & Josephine Brown Scholarship.
• Tiani Dunn of Euclid, a graduate of Cleveland School of the Arts majoring in theatre acting and directing, earned the Frances & William Summers, Sr. Scholarship.
• Hannah Durst of Madison, a graduate of Madison High School majoring in biology, earned the William & Mary Smithett Scholarship.
• Mark Evangelista of Mayfield Heights, a graduate of Mayfield High School majoring in business administration and marketing, earned the Barber/Finlayson Scholarship.
• Alexis Garrett of Mentor , a graduate of Mentor High School majoring in pre-physical therapy, earned the Emma Louise Gerhard Scholarship and the Robert V. Zito ‘49 Scholarship.
• Alyssa Grierson of Madison, a graduate of Madison High School majoring in communication sciences and disorders, earned the Theo & Belle Moll Scholarship.
• Cortez Hart of Euclid, a graduate of Euclid High School majoring in mild/moderate educational needs, earned the Oren Class of 1929 & Ruth Merkle Scholarship.
• Dominic Laurie of Wickliffe, a graduate of Wickliffe Senior High School majoring in political science and economics, earned the Peggy Jo Carpenter ‘41 Scholarship and the Robert Fricke Scholarship.
• Bryce Lewis of Euclid, a graduate of Hawken School majoring in theatre acting and directing, earned the Joseph & Berneice Smith Non-Honors Day Scholarship.
• Matthew Lowe of Mentor, a graduate of Mentor High School majoring in health care management, earned the Marguerite & Oswald Binder Scholarship.
• Jonathan Loya of Cleveland, a graduate of Charles F. Brush High School majoring in music theatre, earned the Beverlie Buck Mayer Music Scholarship.
• Lea McClure of Lyndhurst, a graduate of Rocky River High School majoring in music education, earned the E.S. & M.R. Griffiths Scholarship.
• Gina Mulh of Mentor, a graduate of Mentor High School majoring in instrumental performance, earned the Barbara Geiser Popeney Scholarship and the E.S. & M.R. Griffiths Scholarship.
• Alexander Nahra of Cleveland, a graduate of Mayfield High School majoring in applied mathematics, earned the Francis Family Scholarship.
• Justin O’Toole of Willoughby Hills, a graduate of Willoughby South High School majoring in instrumental performance, earned the E.S. & M.R. Griffiths Scholarship.
• Stephen Osborn of Chester Township, a graduate of West Geauga High School majoring in computer science, software engineering and mathematics, earned the Outstanding Computer Science Student Award and the Toni & Max Dehn Prize.
• Sarah Porter of Chagrin Falls , a graduate of Kenston High School majoring in instrumental performance, neuroscience biology and biology, earned the E.S. & M.R. Griffiths Scholarship.
• Justin Ransom of Madison, a graduate of Madison High School majoring in English, earned the John & Marjorie Sinnema Scholarship.
• Luke Razzante of Highland Heights, a graduate of Mayfield High School majoring in prephysical therapy, earned the Ruth Lapp Johnson Scholarship.
• Sarah Reinhard of Willoughby, a graduate of Willoughby South High School majoring in athletic training and prephysical therapy, earned the Lincoln Electric Scholarship.
• Peter Ribar of Middlefield, a graduate of Cardinal High School majoring in acting, earned the JoAnne V. & W. Grayson Lappert English Scholarship and the William and Mary Lou Allman Drama Scholarship.
• Thomas Richmond of Chagrin Falls, a graduate of Chagrin Falls High School majoring in sport management, earned the Lloyd & Mildred Hoffman Scholarship.
• Emily Russell of Mentor, a graduate of Mentor High School majoring in music education, earned the E.S. & M.R. Griffiths Scholarship.
• Nicholas Smith of Mentor,a graduate of Mentor High School majoring in pre-physical therapy, earned the Lloyd & Mildred Hoffman Scholarship.
• Grant Strlich-Waybright of Chardon, a graduate of Ohio Connections Academy majoring in acting, earned the William and Mary Lou Allman Drama Scholarship.
• Abigail Thompson of Madison, a graduate of Madison High School majoring in marketing, earned the Isabel Marting Scholarship.
• Andrew Vicente of Mentor on the Lake, a graduate of Mentor High School majoring in instrumental performance and mathematics, earned the E.S. & M.R. Griffiths Scholarship and the J. Edward Adams Scholarship.
• Makenna Virag of Madison , a graduate of Madison High School majoring in music education, earned the E.S. & M.R. Griffiths Scholarship and the Mercer Explorations Study Grant.
• Arshawna Warren of South Euclid, a graduate of Twinsburg High School majoring in psychology, earned the Thomas N. Wilson Family Scholarship.
