Walter W. Leagan, 79, of Chesterlan­d, passed away peacefully Monday ing, November 20th, 2017 at home rounded by his family.

He was born in Pittsburgh, Pa. on tember 13th, 1938. Walter married ria Jean Wagner on August 12, 1961.

He was a U.S. Army Veteran, and a member of the N.R.A., who worked as a machinist until retirement. Walter had a passion for singing. He performed The Messiah for many years at Lake Erie College and more recently with the ebration Choir for the Geauga County Hunger Task Force. Walter also enjoyed riding with Gloria in two Chapters of the Gold Wing Rider’s Associatio­n. He liked to be involved in community affairs and often attended Commission­er and Township Meetings to stay formed. Walter will be greatly missed by: his loving wife of 56 years, Gloria; children, Emma (Chris Brockway) Meyer, Jeanette Wilmot, Francis Leagan, Erna (Howard) brother-in-Mabel; law, John Wagner; 6 grandchild­ren; 6 great-grandchild­ren; and many friends.

He was preceded in death by: his parents, Frank and Erna (Mild) Leagan; sons, Walter and James Leagan; son-in-law, Donald Meyer; daughter-in-law, Joy Leagan; and grandsons, Mark and Michael Leagan.

A Celebratio­n of Life will be held at 1 p.m. on Saturday, December 9th, 2017 at St. Mark Lutheran Church, 11900 Chillicoth­e Rd., Chesterlan­d, OH 44026. Family and friends will be received from 11 a.m. on Saturday until the time of the service at the Church. A luncheon will be held following the services in Church Hall.

In lieu of flowers, donations in Walter’s memory are asked to be made to either St. Mark Lutheran Church or the Ohio Living Home Health and Hospice, 38879 Mentor Ave., Ste A, Willoughby, OH 44094.
