Trubisky, Hunt have big games
It’s taken a while, but Mitchell Trubisky and Kareem Hunt had games that were reminiscent of their high school days dominating for Mentor and South High Schools.
The best part for Trubisky and Hunt is their teams won on Dec. 10.
A look at each player’s performance:
• Trubisky had the best passing day of his rookie season in the Bears’ 33-7 win at Cincinnati.
He completed 25 of 32 passes (78.1 percent) for 271 yards and a touchdown. Trubisky also ran for another TD on a 4-yard run.
“I really feel confident I’m getting better each week,” Trubisky told reporters after the game.
His passer rating for the game was 112.4. Trubisky’s TD pass was a 1-yard pass to fellow rookie and tight end Adam Shaheen.
For the season, Trubisky is 106 for 193 passing for 1,237 yards with five TD passes and four interceptions.
The Bears next play at the Lions on Dec. 16. The following week, Chicago hosts the Browns.
• Hunt had not scored a TD since Week 3 on Sept. 24, but that changed in the Chiefs’ 26-15 win over the Raiders.
His 1-yard TD run in the first half highlighted Hunt’s productive day. He rushed 25 times for 116 yards, and had three receptions for 22 yards. It was his fifth 100yard rushing game of his rookie season.
“Definitely a lot more opportunities (to run the ball),” Hunt told reporters after the game. “Part of that was we were getting first downs (and) the defense kept getting us on the field.”
Hunt also surpassed the 1,000-yard mark for the season in the game. His 1,046 rushing yards rank second in the NFL. The victory snapped a four-game losing by the Chiefs, who are tied with the Chargers atop the AFC West at 7-6.
“We knew how big this game was, and everyone wanted to come out and get a win,” said Hunt.
