Stanley J. Smith, 87, of Punta Gorda, Florida and formerly of Concord Twp., Eastlake and Mentor passed away peacefully November 27, 2017. He was born August 8, 1930 in Dayton to ley and Pearl.

Stan was a retired Gunnery Sergeant Marine of 21 years, Food Service Director for Mentor Schools for 20 years, and also an elder at Faith Lutheran Church. He enjoyed volunteeri­ng at the Volunteers of America, VFW and American Legion where he was a past officer. He loved spending time with his family and friends, and he was an avid golfer, boater and fisherman.

He is survived by his loving wife of 22 years, Frances Spolar-Smith; son, Stan Smith Jr. (Kim); daughter Mary Bielek; stepchildr­en, Cathy Baltus (Mark), Michael Spolar (Maureen) and tine Hetheringt­on; grandchild­ren, David Jr., Jonathon Bielek, Nicole, Brittany and Samantha Urankar, Matthew, Ryan, tie, Colleen and Bridget Spolar and Mitchell Hetheringt­on; great granddaugh­ter Kamryn Burkholder. He was preceded in death by his first wife of 43 years Margaret; siblings Evelyn Smith, Mildred Krause, Arlene Redline, Blanche Johnson, Dale Reppert, Gene Smith, Glenn Smith and Richard Smith.

Celebratio­n of Life will be held from 5:30 to 8 p.m. Friday, December 15, 2017 at Willoughby Eagles FOE, 37299 clid Ave, Willoughby, OH. Graveside service will be held on Monday, December 18 at 10 a.m. at Mentor Cemetery, 6881 Hopkins Rd, Mentor, OH.
