Woman flown to MetroHealth Medical Center after crash
The Lake County Sheriff’s Office is investigating a crash that sent a woman to MetroHealth Medical Center in Cleveland with what appeared to be injuries not considered life-threatening.
According to the department, deputies at 7:43 p.m. Jan. 14 responded with the Perry Township Fire Department to the area of 3451 N. Ridge Road for an injury crash involving two vehicles.
The preliminary investigation by the Sheriff’s Office showed that a 2015 Honda Civic occupied by the lone female driver was traveling in the eastbound lane of North Ridge Road. A witness told deputies the Civic went left of center and into the westbound lane of travel, nearly striking the witness.
The witness said the vehicle then struck a 2015 Jeep Compass, occupied by a male driver and a male passenger. The vehicle had been driving behind the witness in the westbound lanes of North Ridge Road.
The Perry Township Fire Department transported the woman to TriPoint Medical Center in Concord Township, and she was later flown to MetroHealth.
The fire department also transported the passenger of the Jeep to TriPoint for a minor leg injury.
The Sheriff’s Office said it appears both drivers were wearing their seat belts, but the passenger was not.
They added it is still unclear what caused the Civic to go left of center, but alcohol does not appear to be a factor.
The westbound lanes of North Ridge Road were closed for about an hour while deputies investigated.
The investigation is ongoing, the sheriff’s office said.
