Euclid police probe suspicious death

Police in Euclid are looking into a suspicious death reported late in the morning on Jan. 16, the department confirms.

Euclid Police Department Public Informatio­n Officer Lt. Mitch Houser said an 11:44 a.m. 911 call alerted authoritie­s about a dead body at 416 E. 222nd St. He said officers arrived on the scene to find the victim of what appears to be a death involving foul play.

“We are investigat­ing the incident as if it were a homicide,” he said in a Jan. 16 phone interview.

Police do have a suspect in custody, Houser confirmed. But police have yet to file any charges, identify the suspect or the victim.

“We’re still investigat­ing further,” Houser said.

Mentor robbery suspect arrested

On Dec. 25, the Mentor Police Department posted a photo of a man suspected of robbing a CVS drug store on its Facebook page.

He was later identified as 38-year-old Christophe­r Hasul and a warrant for third-degree felony robbery was issued. Other area department­s also issued robbery warrants on Hasul, whom police report has no fixed address.

On Jan. 16, the U.S. Marshals Northern Ohio Violent Fugitive Task Force located him on the west side of Cleveland near the intersecti­on of Puritas and West 176th Street.

Hasul was arrested without incident and transporte­d to Mentor Police Department, the Facebook post stated.

He is expected to face formal charges Jan. 17 in Mentor Municipal Court.

Mentor man faces weapons charges

A 30-year-old Mentor man was arraigned Jan. 16 on firearms charges following a Jan. 13 incident in his city of residence, Mentor Municipal Court records show.

Christophe­r M. Conahan, of 7196 Maple St., is accused of carrying a Springfiel­d XD9 pistol while under the influence and faces one fourthdegr­ee felony count each of improperly handling a firearm in a motor vehicle and carrying a concealed weapon, along with firstdegre­e misdemeano­r using weapons while intoxicate­d, his arraignmen­t file confirms.

If convicted of the two felony counts, Conahan could get up to three years behind bars.

He’s free on a $15,000/10 percent cash or surety bond and has another court appearance scheduled Jan. 25.
