Pair face felony drug charges in Mentor
A 22-year-old Mentor woman and a 26-yearold man from Painesville were arraigned Jan. 18 in Mentor Municipal Court in connection with a variety of drug-related offenses, court records state.
Sherri R. Barrett, of 6636 Center St. in Mentor, and Nathan F. Starkey, of 305 Mentor Ave. in Painesville, are each charged with multiple felonies.
Barrett’s file shows that she is charged with two fifth-degree felony heroin trafficking offenses — one related to a Jan. 2 incident and another one on Jan. 17. She’s also charged with one fifth-degree felony count each of trafficking in counterfeit controlled substances and heroin possession, along with a first-degree misdemeanor count of possessing drug abuse instruments (a syringe.)
Starkey is charged with third-degree felony conveyance of prohibited items onto the grounds of a detention facility and one fifth-degree felony count each of MDMA possession, complicity to trafficking in heroin and permitting drug abuse, his court record confirms.
If convicted of their respective felonies, Barrett could get up to four years behind bars and Starkey could get six.
Both defendants are scheduled to reappear for their preliminary hearings on Jan. 25. In the meantime, Barrett is being held on a $15,000/10 percent cash or surety bond and Starkey on a $50,000/10 percent cash or surety bond.
