M-L man gets jail for role in shooting

20-year-old threatened teens after Madison Twp. shooting

- Staff report

A Mentor-on-the-Lake man was sentenced Jan. 25 to 270 days in Lake County Jail for his role in a Madison Township shooting incident.

Justin Green, 20, also received four years of probation, 200 hours of community service and a $3,000 fine.

Green was one of four men inside a black Kia when co-defendant Jason Harman fired one shot at a Jeep Cherokee on North Ridge Road with a 12-gauge shotgun around 2 a.m., Feb. 20.

Green previously pleaded guilty before Lake County Common Pleas Judge Eugene A. Lucci to attempted felonious assault and intimidation of an attorney, victim or witness for threats he made to two of the four victims in the Cherokee.

The judge also ordered Green, whose girlfriend is expecting a child, to complete anger management and parenting classes.

He also must avoid contact with any of the victims or co-defendants and maintain full-time employment and/or school.

If Green violates any of those terms, Lucci said he would sentence him to the maximum six years in prison.

Harman, 19, of Perry Township, was sentenced earlier this month to 150 days at Lake County Jail and three years community control after pleading guilty to attempted felonious assault and improper handling of firearms in a motor vehicle.

The Kia driver, 19-yearold Sean Durkee of Perry Village, will be sentenced Feb. 8. Durkee pleaded guilty to the same charges as Harman.

A fourth defendant, 19-year-old Tyler Shields of Perry Township, pleaded guilty to improper handling of a firearm in a motor vehicle and attempted tampering with evidence. Shields will be sentenced March 7.

Nobody was injured during the incident, and the Jeep was not struck.
