A new event is coming to Fairport Harbor Village.

The Fairport Harbor Tourism Council is hosting its first macaroni and cheese competition and fundraiser. The “Mac ’n Cheese Cook Off” will be held from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Feb. 3 at The Hildegarden, 630 Plum St.

Board Secretary Lisa Cummings said they wanted to do something different this year to attract more visitors to Fairport Harbor.

“It’s cold outside and macaroni and cheese is a comfort food,” she said.

There is a $10 fee to enter a macaroni and cheese dish and there must be enough to serve 200, 2-ounce samples.

An individual sampling pass is $5 and a family pass is $10.

For more information, contact Cummings by email at barnbridgemerc@gmail.com or visit Fairport Harbor Tourism Council’s Facebook page. Winners will be announced at 2:30 p.m.

First-place winners will receive $75; second-place, $50 and third place, $25. Second- and third-place prizes will be in the form of tourism cash, which can be spent at any Fairport business.

The event also will feature a Hildegarden open house.

The Hildegarden is a center focused on holistic health and spirituality, offering programs, retreats, speakers, and other activities to grow one’s mind, body and spirit.

The “Mac ’n Cheese Cook Off” will be fun for the entire family, Cummings said.

All proceeds will benefit the Fairport Harbor Tourism Council.

The Fairport Harbor Tourism Council is a nonprofit, public charity dedicated to enhancing the economic development of Fairport Harbor and the quality of life of its residents by promoting the village’s unique heritage, recreational opportunities, businesses, events and natural resources.
