Trustees re-elect transit board leaders
“I love working with Laketran and am thrilled to be re-elected. We have some amazing people working there and we’re doing more for the customers with less of the taxpayers’ dollars.” — Paul Miller
The Laketran Board of Trustees last week unanimously re-elected Concord Township resident Brian Falkowski as board president to a fourth, one-year term; and Mentor resident Paul E. Miller as vice president for a third, one-year term for 2018.
Falkowski has been a Laketran trustee since June 2011. Miller has served on the Laketran board since May 2012.
Both Falkowski and Miller said they were honored to serve the Laketran Board of Trustees for another year in the two leadership positions, thanking their colleagues for their support.
“I appreciate the vote of confidence that I received from my fellow board members and look forward to continuing my leadership role,” Falkowski said. “This is a great board to work with. In the past year, we successfully hired a new general manager and launched our new alternative-fueled propane fleet.
“This year, we are excited to explore how we may better serve the Tyler Boulevard corridor in Mentor to help local businesses recruit and retain talent. We will also continue to expand our propane fleet and implement mobile ticketing. I look forward to working on all of these projects and am certain 2018 will be a tremendous year for Laketran.”
Miller said he’s proud how the agency, while small compared to larger urban transit systems, works hard keeping up to date with technology that makes operations more efficient.
“I love working with Laketran and am thrilled to be re-elected. We have some amazing people working there and we’re doing more for the customers with less of the taxpayers’ dollars. They are so passionate and they take their jobs seriously. It builds value and it shows in the community.
“Ben (Capelle, general manager) has been great, as has Keith (Bare, director of maintenance),” Miller added. “It’s been incredible. I look forward to the evaluation and implementation of mobile ticketing and prepayment for our Dial-a-Ride customers this upcoming year to improve the customer experience and streamline our fare collection process.”
