This district got a good measure of relief when reigning Division III champion Gilmour moved up to Division II, but the addition of Elyria Catholic makes it just as tough to get out to the regional level. The Panthers have height and length no one else in the field can match with 6-2 Megan Schibelhut, 6-1 Ally Winnen and 6-1 Abby Winnen . ... Kirtland is 22-0 and state-ranked, so the Hornets are dangerous. Senior Sydney Snyder does it all, averaging 21.2 points, 7.8 rebounds, 3.7 assists and 4.3 steals. Lutheran West topped Kirtland last year in a district semifinal, so a rematch is very much in the cards. But whoever wins that matchup is going to have their hands full with a tall and athletic Elyria Catholic team that has five losses to its name, but plays a difficult schedule.
