Anita M. (Stange) Gable

A private service will be held for Anita M. Gable, a resident of Mentor for the last 54 yrs. Mrs. Gable died on Tues. Feb. 13, 2018 at TriPoint Medical Center. Born in 1928 in Germany, Mrs. Gable was 90 years old. She was a Cert. interprete­r-translator, working for US Army Europe when she met Mr. Gable. They were married in 1954 & settled in Lancaster County in Mr. Gable’s home State of nia. The family moved to Mentor in 1963. Mrs. Gable embraced the culture of her new country and assimilate­d easily as she already was familiar with the language. She served many years as a volunteer in the Mentor School system, The Adult Literacy Program, Hospice, the Mentor Library, the Mentor Senior Center as historian, & in a German culture group. She had good friends with whom she shared loyalty & affection.

She also maintained continued contact with relatives and friends in Germany and visited them regularly.

Mrs. Gable was a world traveler and enjoyed presenting travelogue­s on the places and different cultures she loved to explore.

She is survived by her three beloved sons Clay P. of tor, Christian (Sarah Greer) of Middlefiel­d, and Court A. of Mentor. Close ties with her cherished grandchild­ren Jessica and Garrett, Adelia, Asher and Adam enriched her life with joy and pride.

Her husband Peter preceded her in death in March 1986. Her parents, who remained in Germany, are also deceased.

Interment at Mentor Cemetary will take place at a later date.
