Ohio Legislative Service Commission accepting applications

- Staff report

The Ohio Legislative Service Commission is accepting applications through April 1 for the 2019 Legislative and Telecommunications Fellowship Program (LSC), according to a news release from state Sen. Gayle Manning, R-North Ridgeville.

“A number of dedicated young professionals from northeast Ohio stated their careers as LSC fellows,” Manning said. “I encourage anyone who qualifies and has an interest in state government, to check out this great opportunity.”

Fellows are immersed in the Ohio legislative process by assisting members of the Ohio General Assembly with constituent work, writing news releases, performing legislative research, attending meetings and various administrative duties, according to the release.

Telecommunications fellows assist in televising House and Senate proceedings and in preparing educational video productions about the General Assembly and the legislative process, the release said.

Fellows receive full state of Ohio benefits and are paid $31,200 per year with the opportunity to earn a $2,000 bonus based on length of service in the program.

The legislative fellowship is open to graduates of all major fields of study who have a genuine interest in learning about state government. No political experience is required.

Telecommunications fellow candidates must have majored or minored in a telecommunicationsrelated field of study or have comparable experience.

To be eligible, applicants must have graduated from a four-year college degree program by the December start date. Those holding graduate or professional degrees also may apply.
