Chocolate Stroll & Wine Tasting on tap
Inaugural event aims to shine spotlight on local businesses
The Fairport Harbor Tourism Council is planning to debut what it hopes is to become an annual tradition in the village of roughly 3,000 residents: the Chocolate Stroll & Wine Tasting.
Planned for 5 to 8 p.m. April 20, the event aims to shine a spotlight on numerous local businesses as participants meander between retailers on Third and High streets.
According to tourism council board member Lisa Cummings, who is the organization’s events committee chairwoman, businesses signed up as of April 12 include High Street retailers the Finnish Treasures Gift Shop, Old Familiar Ways, The Gravel Pit and Fairport Family Restaurant.
Third Street participants include Fairport Harbor Beverage, My Junque Shoppe and The Wine Roost. Representatives from The Hilde-garden and Rego’s Brickhouse Pizza will be on hand at 204 Third St., where Cummings said the wine tasting will be situated. That is also the event check-in location.
More venues may join in before April 20, Cummings said.
Cost for the Chocolate Stroll & Wine Tasting are $20 each. Wine-tasting only and Chocolate-stroll only tickets are $10 each. Optional tasting glasses are $5 each and individual wine samples are $3 each, according to the event’s news release.
Tickets are limited to 100, Cummings said. They may be purchased online via the tourism council website, the event Facebook page or by calling 216-509-6198. Check payments may be sent to Fairport Harbor Tourism Council, c/o 402 Eagle St., Fairport Harbor, OH 44077.
Organizers plan to make the Chocolate Stroll & Wine Tasting event an annual thing, Cummings said, adding that the group’s next event will be its Harbor Stroll on May 9, themed “Life is Better in a Beach Town,” and will feature a golf cart parade.
