Carl H. Markel, 79, of Mentor, passed away Thursday, April 19, 2018. Born July 9, 1938, in Barnesboro, Pa., he had been a resident of Lake County for more than 50 years. Carl was a past member of the Roberts American Legion Post 214 in Willoughby, an avid deer hunter and enjoyed boating and fishing. He offered his assistance to many, fixing their cars and houses. Carl was dearly loved by his family and will be missed by many. Mr. Markel had worked as a mechanic for the City of Euclid for more than 30 years, prior to his retirement.

Carl was the beloved husband of almost 59 years (July 18, 1959) to Elsie M, (nee Kelly) Markel; loving father of Karen A. Mickshaw, Elaine M. Markel and Paul K. Markel; cherished grandfathe­r of Amber (Bill), Brandon (Alyson), Holly (Randy), Sarah (James), Matthew and Joshua; great-grandfathe­r of 10; brother-in-law of Esther Markel; and uncle of many niecL. es and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his daughter, Robin McLean; son, Carl B. Markel; parents, Bradley and Audrey (nee Thomas) Markel; and siblings, Wallace, Robert (Gail), Russell and Dorothy.
