Daniel Volper, 98, died Friday, April 13, 2018, at Lake West Hospital, after a brief illness. He had recently moved from Beach In Willoughby. wood, Ohio, to Breckenrid­ge Village dependent Living in He was a retired insurance agent. He volunteere­d in geriatrics at the Cleveland Clinic until he turned 97 and stopped driving. In 2012, the Clinic hon2014 ored him for 20 years of service. A article, “End-of-Life Planning Frees Man to Thrive in His 90s,” was featured on the cover of Cleveland Clinic’s Geriatric Times.

Mr. Volper was much admired. He was a New York Times crossword puzzle enthusiast who loved classical music. He helped out in his daughter’s classroom at Rice Elementary in Mentor from 2000 until she retired in 2011. He was computer savvy and enjoyed modern technology. At a family dinner just days before he passed, he explained how he used Google Drive to store all of his photos, and Bluetooth to connect his hearing aids to his iPhone.

Survivors include his wife, Geraldine Powers Volper (nee Adelman); children, Rosemary Tropman, Elise (Chris) John; grandchild­ren, Elizabeth (Jack) Tropman, Rachel (Richard) Jeschelnig, Benjamin John, Megan John; and great-grandin children, Ethan and Claire.

His first wife, Shirley Volper (nee Spitz) preceded him death. Private services were held. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations in his name to the Cleveland Clinic, PO 931517, Cleveland, 44193Ohio 1655; or the Cleveland Orchestra, 11001 Euclid Ave., CleveServi­ces. land, Ohio 44106.
