Harry Eugene Clark, 85, passed away Thursday, April 19, 2018 at Catawba Regional Hospice in Newton, NC, after a brief but courageous battle with canthe cer. Harry was born February 5, 1933 to late Charles Clark and Mamie Greene Clark. He moved to Ohio in 1952 and worked for TRW for 30 years, retiring at age 49. He served in the U.S. Army dur-1955). ing the Korean Conflict (1953 He returned to North Carolina in 1982 and was married in 1983. He worked for Huffman Grading and retired from Dickinson Hauling in 2005.

In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his grandmothe­r, (“Momma”) Maggie Greene; step-mother, Ruth Williams Clark; step-son, Curtis Church; and a grandson, Ethan Church.

Survivors include his wife of 35 years, Velvia Brittain Clark; children, Debbie Hoffman and Jean Goodrich of stepOhio; children, Karen Hand, and Kevin Church and wife Anna; grandchild­ren, Joseph and Maria Hoffman; Danielle Gardner and husband Brad, Dustin Hand and fiancé, Fay Broadbent, Nicholas Hand, JD Sharpe and Kade Church. Also survivof ing are his sister, Barbara Hart and husband, Clarence Morganton; two nephews; beloved aunt, Iris Greene; dear cousin, Bobby Crenshaw of Ohio; and his adored cat, “Mia.”

Funeral services will be held at Catawba Funeral Home on Monday, April 23, 2018 at 3:00 p.m. with Pastor Mark Morris officiatin­g.

The family will receive friends at 2:00 p.m. prior to the serPark vice. Burial will follow the service at Catawba Memorial with Military Honors.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorials are made to Harry’s Helping Hands at Antioch Baptist Church, 580 Antioch Church Rd., Taylorsvil­le, NC 28681.
