District announces appointments
New assistant superintendent, human resources director named
Mayfield Schools will begin the 2018-19 academic year with two new members on its administrative staff, this week announcing the appointment of Steven Nedlik as assistant superintendent of operations, safety and business partnerships, and Andrew Fetchik as director of human resources.
The school board on April 25 voted unanimously to fill the vacancy left by Assistant Superintendent Mike Barnes, who has been appointed superintendent of Lakewood Schools.
“Both Steve and Andy are very well respected in their school districts and community,” said Mayfield Schools Superintendent Keith Kelly. “We are very fortunate to have them as leaders in Mayfield. They are student-centered decision makers. Both of them have hearts for kids.”
In his new role, according to a Mayfield Schools news release, Nedlik will oversee the daily operations and management of the departments of transportation, food service, and buildings and grounds; serve as the coordinator of the district’s CARE/Safety Team in partnership with local police, fire and mental health agencies; and act as the business partnership liaison to coordinate area businesses with academic programming. All administrative directors will report to Nedlik.
Nedlik comes to Mayfield from the Willoughby-Eastlake School District, where he currently serves as the director of operations and security. He will join Mayfield on Aug. 1.
“Steve’s knowledge of operations and safety is deep and will add to strengthen our organization,” Kelly said.
Fetchik also will begin his duties Aug. 1. He will oversee Mayfield’s 700 employees and coordinate recruitment, hiring and orientation of all certified and classified employees; manage all bargaining agreements; and work with the leadership of the districts three associations.
Fetchik also will oversee all compliance regulations associated with personnel.
Fetchik serves as principal of Mentor High School and as a member of the superintendent’s administrative cabinet.
Kelly said Fetchik will also be a strong addition to the Mayfield Schools team.
“Andy is certainly the person for the job,” Kelly added.
“He and Steve will be instrumental leaders as we continue Mayfield on the path of excellence which has been built.”
