English-flavored festivities for Royal Wedding in place

Early risers have the edge when it comes to watching the Royal Wedding, which takes place at 7 a.m. local time May 19. The Ritz-Carlton Cleveland, 1515 W. Third St., invites those who can’t make it to Windsor Palace to view a large-screen live version of the royal wedding of Prince Harry and Meghan Markle in a celebration framed around a bountiful English breakfast beginning at 6 a.m. that day.

Scones with marmalade, scrambled eggs with Devonshire cream, breakfast bangers, chilled smoked seafood and English cheeses with water crackers, along with fresh fruits, vegetables and bountiful British breads will be served. A cash bar will tempt with optional morning Champagne, Mimosas, Bellinis and Bloody Marys.

Women are invited to wear their prettiest hats or fascinators. Everything gets underway at 6 a.m. and breakfast will be served until 9 a.m.

Mother’s Day catch-up

Several restaurants missed the newspaper’s deadline for a recent story about Mother’s Day dining opportunities.

It’s one of the busiest dining days of the year, so there are no guarantees that reservations are still available, but here’s a look at some more offerings on May 13:

The Steele Mansion, 348 Mentor Ave., Painesville, will serve brunch from help-yourself stations with reservations available every half hour between 10 a.m. and 2 p.m. Price is $55 with discounts for seniors and children. Call 440-639-7948.

Rosé extravaganza

Rosé wines, which in recent years have become much drier and a favorite choice for warm weather sipping, will be showcased from 6:30 to 8 p.m. May 11 at Heinen’s, 8850 Mentor Ave. Mentor, when a dozen still and bubbly rosés will be poured and served along with an assortment of appetizers.
