Brian Mundell and induced a groundout to preserve Akron’s victory. • High-A Lynchburg pounded out 16 hits, Zach Plesac pitched six shutout innings and the Hillcats beat Potoman, 12-0. Lynchburg (21-18) opened a 6-0 lead in the third inning. RBI doubles from Luke Wakamatsu, Gavin Collins and Jodd Carter keyed the Hillcats’ big inning. Anthony Miller hit a two-run home run in the sixth. Mayfield graduate Mitch Longo went 2-for-5 and scored a run. Plesac (3-2) worked six shutout innings. He struck out three, allowed three hits and walked one. Three Lynchburg relievers combined to allow one hit in the final three innings.
