Bible study: The Women on Mission at Eastlake Baptist Church 35401 Stevens Blvd., Eastlake, one block east of Route 91, will offer a Bible Study this summer at 5 p.m., beginning June 4 and meeting weekly on Monday nights. “Faithful, Abundant, True” is a seven-session study that is written by Kay Arthur, Priscilla Shirer and Beth Moore. Topics covered will be from Hebrews, showing God’s faithfulne­ss and challenges believers to be faithful in difficult times, also from Ephesians learning about God’s abundance, and the topic of discernmen­t and how the Holy Spirit enables believers to determine what is true. Music celebratio­n: Mentor United Methodist Church, 8600 Mentor Ave., Mentor, will host a Celebratio­n of Music to commemorat­e the church’s 200th anniversar­y at 7 p.m. June 2. Both traditiona­l and contempora­ry music will be performed. There will be light refreshmen­ts between the traditiona­l and contempora­ry sections of the celebratio­n.

Give-a-way: Dorothy’s Porch, a ministry of Celebratio­n Lutheran Church, 10621 Auburn Road, Chardon, will host a give-a-way of clothing for the family, household items, books, toys, misc., from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m., May 31 and June 1, and from and 9 a.m. to 10 a.m., June 2. All items are free.

Blessing of the animals:

Memorial Day weekend, creatures of all shapes and sizes are welcomed to join in worship at Old South Church 9802 Chillicoth­e Road, Kirtland, at 10 a.m., May 27. The worship service that morning will center on the blessing of animals. You don’t need to be a member of the church to bring your pet for a blessing during the service. During the service, not only will pets be blessed but the wild animals will receive attention as well since the service will be held outside in the church’s outdoor worship space. From Memorial Day until Labor Day, weather permitting, the worship at Old South moves outside to the Dell, an amphitheat­er with bench seating that offers a vista on the beauty of the ravine behind the church. If the weather prevents being outside, worship will move inside, but the blessing of the animals will move to June 3. The annual “Christmas for Kids” program is having a garage sale fundraiser from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. June 1-2, at Vineyard Community Church, 1928 E. 300th St., Wickliffe. Proceeds will go to provide gifts, toys and food baskets for needy families during the holidays. The church is also accepting donated items for the sale. Church celebrates 200

years: Willoughby United Methodist Church will celebrate 200 years as a congregati­on in Willoughby on May 27. The community is invited to share in this historic event. Services are at 8 and 10:30 am. There will be a pancake breakfast at 9 a.m. The special speaker at the 10:30 a.m. service will be the Rev. Dr. Gary George, assistant to East Ohio Conference Bishop Tracy S. Malone. A reception will follow in Fellowship Hall. WUMC is located at 15 Public Square, across from Point Park, in downtown Willoughby.

Adventure Week: Fellowship Bible Church, 16391 Chillicoth­e Road, Chagrin Falls, Fellowship Kids have announced that Adventure Week (Illuminate) will be June 25-28. This four-day camp is for preschoole­rs (at least 4 years old) through elementary (completed 5th grade). Kids will make lasting friendship­s while experienci­ng God’s love and exploring His Word. There will have giant inflatable­s each day. All of the kids will be supervised by trained staff and engaged volunteers. Registrati­on starts May 20. Golf outing: Bethel Lutheran Church in Willowick, will sponsor its eighth annual Bethel Outreach Golf Outing on June 15, at the Briardale Greens Golf Course in Euclid. The event will begin with a shotgun start at 9 am and will be a four-person scramble format. All proceeds from the tournament will go to directly to support local programs and organizati­ons in the community. These programs include the Willowick Food Pantry, Lake County Community Network, Willowick youth sports, Hearts & Hammers of Willowick, Willowick Middle and Royalview Elementary Schools and The National Fire Safety Council. Golfers of any skill-level are invited to participat­e. Players may register as a foursome, but golfers who register individual­ly or in groups less than four may be combined to complete a foursome wherever possible. The $75/person entry fee covers: 18 holes of golf with cart; free range balls prior to the start of your round; gift bag for each golfer; coffee and donuts in the morning and hot dogs, chips and beer at the turn; Dinner that includes both ribs and chicken following the round; and one raffle ticket entering you into the drawing for the door prize. Also planned are a 50/50 Drawing, Gift Raffle, Holein-One Contest and other optional special events throughout the course. The tournament committee is also currently seeking corporate sponsors, hole sponsors, as well as gifts and prizes for the raffle.
