Changes announced in the Browns personnel department on May 31 have resulted in Sashi Brown holdovers Paul DePodesta and Andrew Berry holding onto their jobs under current general manager John Dorsey.

DePodesta holds the title of chief strategy officer. He “is tasked with implementing systems and processes to strengthen the Browns’ organization and decision making,” according to the team’s media guide.

Berry is involved in talent evaluation as a vice president of player personnel.

DePodesta and Berry were part of the regime change made when, on Jan. 3, 2016, team owner Jimmy Haslam promoted Brown from salary cap manager to director of football operations.

The Browns announced Chisom Opara (director of player personnel), Bobby Vega (director of college scouting), Zac Bocian (scout), Scott Levin (scout), Patrick Moore (scout) and Keegan Leyrer (college scouting assistant) will not be retained.

Steve Malin, with 17 years of scouting experience, was hired as director of college scouting. He spent the past two seasons as a national scout for the New Orleans Saints.

Chris Cooper was promoted to vice president of football administration and Brandon Sosna was promoted to salary cap analyst. Scott Kaniecki will transition from a scouting assistant to defensive quality control coach, the team announced.
