Crossroads Hospice seeks volunteers

-

Crossroads Hospice & Palliative Care is seeking volunteers to provide comfort, companionship and a helping hand to terminallyill patients and their families in their homes, assisted living facilities and nursing facilities.

Crossroads welcomes student volunteers who are 16 years or older to donate time to hospice volunteering. Volunteers are also welcome to help Crossroads staff in the office, including planning a “Gift of a Day,” which asks a patient to describe a perfect day and then makes it a reality, and writing life journals that chronicle the history, events, and blessings of a person’s life.

Volunteers share their favorite activities like reading, playing cards or other games, listening to music, or arts and crafts. They can also run errands and provide respite for family members.

For more information or to sign up as a volunteer, contact Cindy Billideau at 216-654-9300 or Cindy.Billideau@crossroadshospice. com or visit https://bit. ly/1I1t7Zk.

Participants must complete an application, TB skin test, and training session led by members of the Crossroads team.

Visit www.crossroadshospice.com for more information.

Youths needed for conservationist team

Youths who would like to explore streams in Geauga County and learn about their water chemistry and biology this summer are invited to join the Millennium Youth Conservationists team this summer.

In collaboration with the Ohio Department of Natural Resources’ Scenic Rivers Program, team members will use kick seines, sediment sticks, phosphorus test kits, and more to analyze the health of area streams and rivers while providing official stream data to ODNR.

All ages are welcome and participants can come for one outing or for all as they contribute data to the Ohio’s Scenic Rivers Program. It begins in June and concludes in August.

It is free and takes place two Thursdays a month.

Contact Colleen Sharp with the Geauga Soil and Water Conservation District at 440-834-1122, ext. 6, or csharp@geaugaswcd. com for more information.
