Police in Madison Township have released the name of the man whose remains were discovered June 4 after a homeowner’s dog brought evidence of them onto a Bennett Road property.

A June 13 news release from the Madison Township Police Department states that the Cuyahoga County Medical Examiner’s Office confirmed the deceased man is 52-year-old Madison resident Thomas Klissuritsch, who “has lived in the Madison Area for several years.”

Authorities first became aware of Klissuritsch’s remains, which were ultimately found in a wooded area between Bennett and Dock roads June 5, after the homeowner reported the family dog’s discovery about 2:50 p.m. on June 4, police reported in a June 5 news release.

“Officers were able to confirm that the remains were human. Search and rescue dogs were called to the scene as was the Lake County Coroner’s Office. Investigators searched until dark then resumed the search on Tuesday morning,” that release reads. “On Tuesday, June 05, 2018 searchers found the partially decomposed remains of a human body in a wooded area between Bennett and Dock roads. The Lake County Crime Lab responded to assist in processing the scene.”

Madison Township police in a June 7 news release identified the remains as being human and confirmed there was no evidence of foul play, nor was there any reason to consider the area around where the discovery was made to be under any kind of threat.

“The Madison Township Police Department wishes to again advise that there are no indications of foul play,” the department’s June 7 release reads. “This individual’s unfortunate death does not appear to be criminal in nature.”

As of June 13, the department reports that the Lake County Coroner’s Office is investigating the manner of Klissuritsch’s death and that police will release this information to the public once it becomes available.
