Gilmour player selected for camp

Gilmour Academy’s Vincent Stafford has been selected to participate in USA Hockey’s MidAm Select 15 Camp at Kent State University from June 10-13, 2018.

The 68 MidAm Select Camp invitees were selected from the top 220 elite players from five states (Ohio, Western Pennsylvania, West Virginia, Kentucky and Indiana), who competed in April, 2018 in Toledo.

The top players from the Select 15 Camp will play in USA Hockey’s National Select 15 Camp, with players from the Atlantic, Michigan, Northern Plains and Pacific Divisions in Amherst, New York.

“We are very excited and proud to have Vincent Stafford represent our school and hockey program at the USA Hockey MidAm Select 15 Camp. This is an opportunity for Vince to measure himself against the top players in our District, and is a distinguished accomplishment. We wish him the best in advancing to the National Camp,” said Coach Michael Chiellino, Gilmour Academy Head Boys Prep Hockey Coach and Director of Youth Hockey.

Stafford anchored Gilmour’s Bantam Major team in 2017-2018, winning the Cleveland Suburban Hockey League Championship and Playoff Championship with a 14-1 record.

Stafford has developed a reputation as a defensive player who provides stout defense and prolific scoring. Stafford, of Hunting Valley, is a rising freshman at Gilmour Academy who maintains a 4.0 GPA.
