Mayfield Village will kick off its 2018 summer concert season at the Grove Amphitheatre with a patriotic performance by the United States Army Field Band and Soldiers’ Chorus.

The concert will feature marches, patriotic favorites, orchestral masterworks, a cappella vocal arrangements, Broadway musical numbers, opera and more, according to a news release.

The Army Field Band and Soldier Chorus are slated to perform from 7 to 9 p.m. June 25 at The Grove Amphitheatre, 425 N. Commons Blvd.

“We are very excited to have the U.S. Army Field Band and Soldiers’ Chorus perform the very first concert at the Mayfield Village Grove for our 2018 summer season,” Mayor Brenda Bodnar said. “The Mayfield Village community greatly respects and reveres those men and women who defend and protect our great nation.”

The Soldiers’ Chorus, a 23-member mixed chorus founded in 1957, is the vocal component of the United State Army Field Band of Washington, D.C., according to ensemble’s website www.armyfieldband.com. The ensemble travels nationally and internationally performing both independently and with the Army Field Band. They have also performed with organizations such as Boston Pops and at the state funerals of Presidents Ronald Reagan and Gerald Ford.

“This summer, we are most honored to host the internationally acclaimed U.S. Army Field Band in a triumphant celebration of all that is best in America, and of all the freedoms we enjoy because of the courage and dedication of our armed forces,” Bodnar said.

“We look forward to an inspirational and diverse program of music and song brought to us by these talented, professional musicians who serve in our country’s Armed Forces.”
