Kendyll Corsaro’s first place win in the Cleveland Area Soap Box Derby has qualified her to move on to compete in the First Energy All American Soap Box Derby World Championships.

Racing for six years, this is the first time the 14-yearold Mentor resident has brought home a first place finish.

According to Kendyll, she races at least once a year and in her racing career she has won 14 trophies.

Derby racing has become somewhat of a tradition for the Corsaro family. Kendyll developed an interest in the sport after seeing the cars her father Matt Corsaro and uncle Chadd Corsaro raced as kids. Her sister Rylie, 12, also races.

Kendyll got started in racing at the age of 8 when for Christmas her father purchased her first shell to build a race car.

They assembled the stock car in a couple of days in their garage and then began racing on the Cleveland track.

Kendyll said that what she enjoys most about the sport is having the feeling that she has accomplished something as well as meeting new people and seeing how they help each other out.

“We went over to one of the families’ houses and they helped me put my superstock

She also enjoys drawing, spending time with friends, playing video games and looking after her three rabbits.
