St. Gabriel hosts XLT:
The community is invited to join St. Gabriel parish at 9925 Johnnycake Ridge Road in Concord Township on Wednesday evenings, July 11 and Aug. 8 in the church for a Eucharistic Adoration that will include music and deep reflection on the real presence of Jesus. Please join us and together we will unite to celebrate and adore Jesus! The XLT is from 6:30 to 8 p.m. The sacrament of Reconciliation is also offered during this time. Participants from the last two gatherings have noted the quietness and peacefulness that happens during this time spent with Jesus and the profound sense of His Presence. Support for addicted, incarcerated:
Do you have a loved one or family member who is addicted or incarcerated? If you are feeling overwhelmed come and visit “The Well.” Every Thursday evening from 5 to 8 at the “The Well-Willoughby House of Prayer” at 4091 Erie St. in downtown Willoughby, there is discussion and prayer one-on-one for both heartaches. Also relatives and friends can have conversation fellowship and prayer in a safe and welcoming environment. -The visits are anonymous and registration is not required.
Vacation Bible School:
VBS will be 6:30-8:45 p.m.,July 8-12,at Shoregate United Methodist Church, 30500 Bayridge Blvd., Willowick. “Shipwrecked” is the theme that will have children 4 years of age through fifth grade venture onto an uncharted island where they will survive and thrive. Children will learn that Jesus can carry them through life’s storms. Breakfast in the park:
Shoregate United Methodist Church will enjoy an 8 a.m. service in the Pavilion of Lake Metroparks Chagrin River Park on Reeves Road in Willoughby. Everyone is encouraged and welcome to attend. Vacation Bible School: Chardon Baptist Church, 363 Wilson Mills Road, Chardon will host “Basic Elements” — a science-inspired Christ focused VBS program at 6:30 to 8:45 p.m., July 8-12, for children having finished K-6th grades;an adult class will be presented as well. Each evening there will be crafts, music, puppets, snacks, games, a science project and bible teaching. This is a free event and all children or adults are encouraged to attend.
Treasures and Trunks:

Polka band to perform:
The Chardon Polka Band will lead a polka-style worship service at Celebration Lutheran Church, 10621 Auburn Road, Chardon, at 9:30 a.m., July 15. Following the worship service, the Chardon Polka Band will present a free, two-hour concert at the church from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. A portion of the concert following the service will be devoted to the children in the audience. Bible school:
Registration is open for Shipwrecked Vacation Bible School at Willoughby United Methodist Church. VBS runs 6-8:30 p.m. July 22-26 with Family Celebration on July 27. Open to ages 3 years (and potty trained) to sixth grade (fall of 2018). Kids venture onto an uncharted island where they will survive and thrive. They will be anchored in the truth that Jesus carries them through life’s storms. Each day at Shipwrecked VBS, kids travel through rotations of games, treats, Bible discovery, singing, and crafts that reinforce relevant Bible Points and immerse kids in new adventures.
