Economic growth group meets
North Perry Village’s new Economic Development Committee has begun its work.
The advisory panel, established last month by unanimous vote of Village Council, held its first meeting last week.
“I thought it was a well-received meeting, a lot of good dialogue,” Mayor Ed Klco said.
This new committee, according to the ordinance passed by council, is intended to “further facilitate Village Council’s desire to increase economic development in the village.” The panel is to consist of the mayor, two Village Council members and two village residents appointed by council. Each council member and resident chosen will serve two-year terms on the board.
In addition to Klco, council members serving on the committee are Mike Cutler and Roy Blalock. Resident Dave Seese also sits on the panel, and the village is still seeking one more resident to round out the cast. Anyone interested in being considered for the committee should call the mayor at 440-259-4994.
While North Perry is part of the Perry Economic Development Council, the
village also wants to step up its own efforts to attract new businesses, Klco said after the ordinance to form the panel was approved in June.
“We would love to try to find a restaurant or two, or any small businesses interested in coming to North Perry,” he said.
Property along the north side of Route 20, which is in North Perry’s boundaries, would be well-suited for a variety of businesses, since it offers infrastructure such as city water, sewers and gas, he added.
