Music festival draws crowds

Band, food, family fun

Temperatures near 90 degrees did not stop large crowds from attending the Eastlake Music Festival on July 15.

Chris Sexton said she rode her bike from Willoughby to attend the event that took place behind Eastlake City Hall at 35150 Lakeshore Blvd.

“So far, so good,” she said after eating a couple of tacos from the Wild Spork food truck. “The food is good and I’m enjoying the music.”

Shadow of Doubt performed live in concert from 4 to 7 p.m. They also presented Tom Petty memorabilia including awards and rare instruments.

Shadow Of Doubt is a popular Northeast Ohio Tom Petty and The Heartbreakers Tribute Band that was founded in January 2009.

Eastlake Councilman Michael Zuren organized the event.

After the first successful year, the Eastlake Music Festival returned for a second year,

“This year we added more food trucks,” Zuren said.

There were a total of eight trucks including Cookery and Pierogi Joes that served a variety of dishes.

In addition to food and music, the day long event featured numerous kids activities, local business vendors and non-profits.

Zuren said he is happy to bring the community together for a free, familyfriendly event in the city.

“Before we started the Eastlake Music Festival, we hadn’t had a festival in four years,” he said. “So we raised money and got a good band. This year, the city set money aside for the event.”

Zuren hopes it continues to grow.
