Square on Wednesdays is home of ‘Music & Market’

- Staff report

Painesville City and the Painesville Community Improvement Corp. have announced a new Wednesday night trial series in Painesville Square featuring farmers market vendors, food trucks and alcohol for sale.

The event series called “Music & Market” will coincide with the city’s summer live gazebo concerts.

“We recognized that there was an opportunity to enhance the great music concerts we were already hosting by adding food and drink options,” Economic Development Director Cathy Bieterman said in a news release. “After hearing feedback from residents, we also knew there was interest in an evening farmers market for those who may not be able to make it to our regular Thursday afternoon market.

“We combined these ideas and decided to host the trial series to see if there was community support.”

The seven-week event runs Wednesday evenings, July 18 through Aug. 29 in Painesville Square.

Food and drink sales will begin at 5 p.m., with the concert and farmers market starting at 6. Bands range in genres to offer something for everyone, the release stated.

The band schedule is as follows

• July 18 – “The Pop Tarts”

• July 25 – “East Wind Band”

• Aug. 1 – “Swamp Rattlers”

• Aug. 8 – “Found Sounds”

• Aug. 15 – “Red Light Roxy”

• Aug. 22 – “Smack the Frog”

• Aug. 29 – “The Big 5 Show”

All residents and visitors are encouraged to bring lawn chairs, blankets or to find a place in the grass to listen to the sounds of summer while enjoying local vendors, the release stated.
