Two people allegedly involved in the break-in of a Mentor gun store were arraigned in the city’s municipal court July 18.

Keith Ford, 21, and James Ogeltree, 22, both of Cleveland, were arraigned in front of visiting Judge Larry Allen on multiple felony charges in connection with the July 16 break-in of Silverado Arms, 7255 Center St.

Ford faces a first-degree felony felonious assault charge, third-degree felony failure to comply with a police order and fifth-degree felony breaking and entering. His bond was set at $850,000 with a 10 percent cash option.

According to Mentor police, Ford was the getaway driver. When police arrived to the scene shortly after 5 a.m., they saw a vehicle come from the back of the building. Ford refused to stop

for officers, allegedly driving directly at them. Two of the officers on scene fired a total of four rounds at the vehicle.

Ogeltree was charged with second-degree felony robbery, third-degree felony failure to comply with a police order, grand theft and fifth-degree felony breaking and entering.

Police allege that after Ogeltree fled from the getaway car, he stole a vehicle from a disabled woman and led police on a threecounty pursuit that ended when Ogeltree was involved in a head-on collision with a civilian driver in Columbia Station.

Ogeltree’s bond was set a $1.1 million with a 10 percent cash option. Ogeltree also had several warrants out for his arrest in other jurisdictions, including for aggravated murder stemming from an April 8 armed robbery in Cleveland’s Bellaire-Puritas neighborhood that ended in the fatal shooting of 25-year-old O’Shay Miller.

Preliminary hearing dates for Ford and Ogeltree are pending.

A 15-year-old arrested in connection with the break-in was arraigned in the Lake County Juvenile Court on July 17. He was charged with fifth-degree felony complicity to breaking and entering and misdemeanor obstructing official business. The fourth suspect, a 14-year-old juvenile, turned himself in to police July 17, accompanied by his family. He was arraigned in the juvenile court July 18 on the same charges as the 15-year-old.

No police officers were injured during the incident. Ford was wearing a bandage on the side of his head and Ogeltree had a bandage on the right side of his neck during his hearing.
