Q: How can you fix my red and scarred face from acne? A:

Your acne color and contour problems are seen as a single problem. But once you start researching the solutions, you will find it is more complicated than simply resurfacing an inert scar. Red scars, hyperpigmented scars, deep scars and deep cystic acne scars each have their own challenges.

Patients who are experiencing acne scarring require more than one wavelength of laser energy. Each laser wavelength does a specific thing in the skin. (Think like a chef with different spices.) For colors and vascular changes with acne and aging skin, Broad Band Light (BBL) wavelengths can bring about tremendous improvement in the red and brown scars with no down time. For the pitted acne scars and contour problems I have found that Erbium laser resurfacing and Profractional laser can improve all skin types. It heals in a few days. It does not give a year of redness that is seen with CO2 wavelengths.

I convey in the kindest way possible to those with severe acne scarring that we can’t solve all the problems in one single session. My practice has a host of wavelengths to serve your needs. But each treatment will show the predicted outcome within an expected time frame. By starting with careful photography and an 8-spectrum analysis using Visia technology, we have an accurate and objective baseline measurement against which I measure all future outcomes in YOU.
