Morley Library joining CLEVNET
Starting Sept. 24, patrons will enjoy access via the Morley Library catalog to more than 10 million library items.
The Morley Library catalog will soon be migrating to CLEVNET, a northeast Ohio library consortium with 43 member library systems.
Starting Sept. 24, patrons will enjoy access via the Morley Library catalog to more than 10 million library items, including print and digital books, movies, TV shows, and music, as well as additional research and learning databases, according to a news release.
CLEVNET collaboration will give Morley patrons the opportunity to borrow, place holds, pick up and return items at over 100 other library branches across 12 northern Ohio counties, including most Lake County public libraries, Cleveland Public Library, and Geauga County Public Library.
Patrons will be able to browse the CLEVNET catalog for an item that Morley Library doesn’t own, request it from another member library, and enjoy the convenience of picking up and returning the item at Morley. Morley staff will assist in locating and requesting items for patrons as well, the release stated.
Morley cardholders will be able to continue using their current library card, and after Sept. 24, will be able to use it at all CLEVNET libraries.
The release also stated that in addition to the shared catalog, the migration to CLEVNET allows Morley Library to better serve its patrons with an expanded collection of popular databases and increased access to specialized collections, such as foreign language materials and subject-specific scholarly and professional publications held by Cleveland Public Library.
Participation in the CLEVNET consortium will also allow Morley Library to share in collective cataloging services, computer equipment buying and support, and consolidated circulation, all of which will streamline operations and contribute to long-term savings and more efficient use of taxpayer dollars, the release stated.
Morley Library serves the communities of Concord, Grand River, Leroy, and Painesville city and township.
