Large sale: St. Mark Lutheran Church, 11900 Chillicoth­e (Route 306), Chester Township, will hold the annual This ‘N’ That sale from 4 to 7 p.m. Sept. 6, 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Sept. 7 and 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Sept. 8. Cost is $5 on Sept. 6 but free admission the other two days. There will be special prices on Sept. 8. Proceeds benefit congregati­onal needs and local as well as worldside ministries. Back to school blessings:

Gather at Willoughby United Methodist Church on Aug. 26 to celebrate together the beginning of a new school year. All students, teachers and educators are invited to bring their backpacks, briefcases and workbags to ask God’s blessing on the new school year ahead. Services are at 8 and 10:30 a.m. Willoughby United Methodist Church is located at 15 Public Square in downtown Willoughby, across from Point Park. Community prayer vigil: A 24-hour community prayer vigil will be conducted at Advent Lutheran Church, 7985 Munson Road, Mentor, on Sept. 7-8. The prayer vigil will begin at 6 p.m., Sept. 7 and end at 6 p.m. Sept. 8. A service of healing will be conducted at 6 p.m. All are welcome. This is a community event. This year’s prayer theme is “healing” — healing for the world at large, healing for our divided nation, healing for victims of religious and social discrimina­tion, healing for our environmen­t, healing for broken relationsh­ips, healing for those suffering from physical ailments and healing those suffering from addiction and mental health issues. Consider coming to pray for an hour or so. Refreshmen­ts and prayer-materials will be provided.

Support for life’s challenges: It is as simple as stopping in and posting your needs on one of the Willoughby House of Prayer prayer boards or on the outside board. Volunteers will then pray over the request each day. The mission is to share the peace and serenity of God’s providenti­al care. The Willoughby House of Prayer, 4091 Erie St., Willoughby, is open 11 a.m. to 5 p.m., Tuesdays and Saturdays, and 11 a.m. to 8 p.m., Thursdays and Fridays.

Support offered: Support for addiction and incarcerat­ion: Struggling with addiction? Have a loved one or friend who struggles with addiction or is incarcerat­ed? Come experience support and prayer in a safe, non-judgmental environmen­t, Thursdays from 5-8 p.m. at the Willoughby House of Prayer, 4091 Erie St., Willoughby. Reiki therapy offered:

Mentor Presbyteri­an Church, 5885 Hopkins Road, Mentor, will offer free Reiki Therapy at 2 p.m. the third Sunday of each month in the newly renovated healing center. Help for physical, emotional and spiritual pain. The healing is also available by appointmen­t by calling Barb at 440-478-2151.

Sunday services: Mentor Presbyteri­an Church, 5885 Hopkins Road, Mentor, hosts Sunday worship services at 12:30 p.m. Pot luck and worship services are from 5:30 to 6:30 p.m. the first Wednesday of the month and Bible study is 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. Wednesday mornings.

Jubilee celebratio­n: St. Cyprian’s Church in Perry is celebratin­g the church’s 50th Jubilee this year. The search is on for founding families who attended in 1968, to honor with a special dinner. Any historical photograph­s, old stories or other memorabili­a that parishione­rs would like to share with the Jubilee Committee would be appreciate­d. W.E.L.L. seeking volunteers: The W.E.L.L., Willoughby House of Prayer, 4091 Erie St., Willoughby, has a committed volunteer visiting merchants in the downtown area to include their prayer requests on our prayer boards. Volunteers will then pray each day over each request as they read them on the boards. Those interested may place a request on the outside board or come in and write it inside the House of Prayer. W.E.L.L. is looking for new volunteers willing to give a few hours a week to pray for needs in the community. Stop in any time to ask a question or give a request. The W.E.L.L. is open 11 a.m. to 5 p.m., Tuesday-Saturday; on Thursday and Friday the W.E.L.L. remains open until 8 p.m.

Choir seeking members:

The Good Tidings Benefit Choir will be performing Handel’s Messiah and is currently seeking choir members. All proceeds from the event benefit the Geauga Hunger Task Force. The recent Christmas concert by the group raised $8,900 for the Hunger Task Force. For details, call Claudia Toth, at 216-436-2028.
