Turnovers hamper Brush

The lowdown

Turnovers were a killer for host Brush in a 33-14 seasonopen­ing loss to North Canton Hoover.

After recovering a fumble, Hoover attacked with the run game. Adam Griguolo scored from 31 yards out.

The Vikings extended their lead to 10-0 on Jonah Clin’es 27-yard field goal.

At the 9:09 mark in the second quarter, Andree Franks Jr. scored on a 67yard touchdown run to cut the Vikings’ lead to 10-7.

After an intercepti­on at the start of the third quarter, the Vikings scored again on David Forrest’s 49-yard

touchdown run. It then became a 26-7 lead for the Vikings on Drew Johnson’s 1-yard touchdown run.

There were hopes for Brush, as it quickly scored on a 40-yard touchdown run by Franks. The Vikings scored for the final time on A.J. Vega’s 16-yard touchdown catch.

HOOVER » Quarterbac­k Connor Ashby completed 21 of his 30 passes for 296 yards and one touchdown. BRUSH » Franks finished with 14 carries, 139 yards and two touchdowns.
