Workshop to present solar applications
A Solar Applications Workshop will take place from 7 to 9 p.m., Sept. 19, at the Lake County Fairgrounds in the Natural Resources Building.
Sponsored by Ohio Ecological Food and Farm Association, this workshop will give ideas and knowledge that can be taken home and applied to energy-demanding tasks around a home or farm, according to a news release.
Items to be discussed conceptually and practically include lighting a shed, powering a remote water pump, opening a door on a hot greenhouse, automatically turning on a fan to cool the garage and installing an array large enough to power an entire home or farm.
Attendees also will have a chance to go hands-on, wiring up solar panels themselves so that they can learn enough electricity fundamentals to possibly tackle a do-ityourself solar project, or at the least converse intelligently with a solar installer, the release stated.
