No More Big Icicles!

According to Michael Shanks, of The Gutter Cover Company, his Heater Cap system can stop big icicles from ever forming. Here’s how.

“Big icicles are as unsafe as they are damaging to your home’s walls and foundation,” says Michael Shanks, of The Gutter

Cover Company. “Released heat from your home melts snow on the roof. If that water just rolled off completely, it would be fine, but it doesn’t,” says Jim. “The water trickles down below the layers of snow that remain on colder roof spots and then hits the coldest part of all—the overhang/gutter line. At this point, the water completely refreezes.”

If you have a cathedral ceiling, skylights or recessed lighting, these hard-to-insulate features allow for heat loss. And, if you have a fireplace, it does the same. These features produce warmroof spots.

“The warm spots continue to melt snow, sending water down with nowhere to go but back up under your roof ’s shingles and into your ceiling and down your walls,” he adds. “Shingles are designed to have water flow over them, not back up and under them.”

Some homeowners try dealing with their ice issues by going the one storm route and paying to have the ice steam-sprayed off. The next storm they have to pay all over again to have it done and the cycle continues.

But there is a way to eliminate roof ice from ever forming. That’s where The Gutter Cover Company’s Heater Cap system can help.

Heater Cap protects the entire gutter system from the inside and disperses a broad reach of heat, melting a large area of snow and ice at the entire gutter line. The self-regulated Heater Cap works continuously to keep your home and family safe. Because it’s hard-wired directly to your breaker box, Heater Cap itself is a safe system. With the gutter kept warm, melting snow from above now flows freely throughout the gutters and downspouts.

Heater Cap can be installed professionally in conjunction with the Gutter Topper system, a revolutionary gutter cover system manufactured in Ohio that keeps gutter systems free flowing and debris free. Heater Cap can also be used with many other existing gutter covers as well, or even with no gutter protection in place at all. According to Michael, Heater Cap typically takes just a day to install. And, because of Heater Caps’ unique installation process, no cables show on the outside, making it aesthetically pleasing. “While you’ll definitely see the awesome results of Heater Cap, you’ll never actually see the product itself,” he remarks.

The News Herald readers can save $300 off any Heater Cap installation of $1,500 or more, if they schedule before Sept. 30, 2018 and mention this story. Additional discounts available for seniors and veterans.
