Retired teachers group hosts candidates forum
The Lake County Retired Teachers Association hosted its biannual Candidates Forum luncheon Sept. 10 at the Holiday Inn, Reynolds Road, Mentor.
Candidates for county and state offices were invited by Tom Moscovic1, Legislative chair, to give a 3-minute presentation describing their strengths to assume or retain the offices.
There were 14 candidates who accepted the invitation to speak to a crowd of retired teachers3, making this luncheon a big success.
Candidates and LCRTA members were greeted by members at the registration table, consisting of Greta Pate; Susan McCarter, luncheon chair; Tim Niederkorn, scholarship chair; and Janene Ishee, chair of the 50/50 raffle, which benefits the active teacher grants.
Newly retired teachers are encouraged to join LCRTA’s Nov. 13 luncheon which will be held at the Auburn Career Center. Advanced reservations required to Sue McCarter at sumac29@roadrunner. com.
LCRTA is a social organization which sponsors many activities (such as trips to Iceland, Australia and New Zealand), but also keeps members informed about current educational matters and legislation affecting teachers and students of today.
