Crash leads to multiple charges for Euclid man
A Willoughby crash sent a man for medical treatment then to jail on drug charges.
An Euclid man is facing drug trafficking and aggravated vehicular assault charges after a Sept. 25 crash in Willoughby.
According to the Willoughby Police Department, officers responded to the scene of a two-car injury crash around 12:20 p.m. on State Route 91 near Halle Drive.
Police said that a Honda CRV was traveling northbound on Route 91 waiting to make a left turn onto Halle Drive when a Nissan Versa, also traveling northbound on Route 91 drifted out of the designated lane of travel, striking the Honda.
The crash caused the Nissan to rollover. The driver, 38-year-old Andrew Dingeldein, was treated at the scene with the opioid-overdose reversal medicine naloxone and was transported to Lake West Medical Center in Willoughby.
The passenger of the Honda was taken to Hillcrest Hospital in Mayfield Heights for injuries related to the crash.
Police found individually packaged drugs, pre-loaded needles and other drug paraphernalia inside Dingeldein’s Nissan.
Dingeldein was arraigned in Willoughby Municipal Court Sept. 26. According to court records, he is facing third-degree felony aggravated vehicular assault and two fourthdegree felony drug trafficking charges. He is also facing misdemeanor charges of OVI, driving in marked lanes and failure to wear a seatbelt.
Bond was set at $100,000 with a 10 percent cash option. A pretrial hearing is scheduled for Oct. 4.
