Preparing a car for the winter

Those interested can get expert advice from local mechanic Bill Snow on how to prepare their car for winter during a special program at 6 p.m, Oct. 11, at Mentor Public Library’s Main Branch, 8215 Mentor Ave. in Mentor.

The program is free and open to all. The library only requests that people RSVP either online at www.mentorpl.org or call the library at 440-255-8811, ext. 247.

Garden club to hear about bees

The Garden Club of Kirtland will meet at 6:45 p.m., Oct. 4, in the Community Room at the Kirtland Public Library, 9267 Chillicoth­e Road.

The evening’s program speaker is Gene T. McCune Jr., beekeeper from Geauga County. His topic is “What’s happening to the bees.”

McCune Family Apiaries produce honey products which will be available for purchase.

Democratic club marks 80th year

The Lake County Democratic Women’s Club is celebratin­g its 80th anniversar­y on Oc. 6 at Quail Hollow Resort, 11080 Concord-Hambden Road in Concord Township.

Social Hour is at 11 a.m. followed by lunch at noon. Ceremonies and raffles begin at 1 p.m.

Cost is $29 per person and includes choice of menu. Reservatio­ns are required and are due by Oct. 1.

At this event the Lake County Democratic Woman of the Year will be announced and celebrated for all of her accomplish­ments and contributi­ons to the residents of the county.

All 2018 statewide candidates are invited to attend.
