Turner’s home run lifts Dodgers to win

Justin Turner hit a two-run homer in the eighth inning and the Los Angeles Dodgers beat the Milwaukee Brewers 4-3 on Oct. 13 to even the NL Championsh­ip Series at a game apiece.

High-powered Los Angeles had just two singles off starter Wade Miley before breaking through against Milwaukee’s vaunted bullpen. Cody Bellinger hit an RBI single and Austin Barnes drove in a run with a bases-loaded walk in the seventh, and Turner’s long drive to left off Jeremy Jeffress put the Dodgers ahead to stay. CAVS CUT HOPEFUL » The Cavaliers waived guard Isaiah Taylor. He played in three preseason games and averaged 4.7 points and 2.3 assists in 16.8 minutes per game.

PACKERS GREAT DIES » Jim Taylor, the ferocious Hall of Fame fullback who embodied the Green Bay Packers’ unstoppabl­e ground game during the Vince Lombardi era and helped the team win four NFL titles and the first Super Bowl, died. He was 83. He died unexpected­ly at a hospital in his hometown of Baton Rouge, Louisiana, the team said.
