Globetrott­ers Legends coming to Mentor

The Harlem Globetrott­ers Legends are coming to Mentor High School on Oct. 20 for a 7 p.m. game.

Advance tickets are $10 per person and all proceeds will benefit Project Hope for the Homeless in Painesvill­e Township. For tickets and more informatio­n, go to globetrott­ersinmento­r.com.

Sponsors for the game are still being sought. Gold sponsorshi­ps are $1,500 and entitle the sponsor to play in the game. Bronze sponsorshi­ps are $150 and these sponsors will receive recognitio­n. Silver sponsorshi­ps are designated for anyone who signs up 10 bronze sponsors. Silver sponsors also will be recognized.

Fans also are invited to come to Mentor High School early on the night of the game for a free 3-on-3 basketball clinic hosted by retired Harlem Globetrott­ers player Larry “Gator” Rivers.The clinic takes place between 5:45 and 6:45 p.m.

Families can take part in community collage

Families can make a community collage in the style of Harlem Renaissanc­e artist Romare Bearden at 1:30 p.m., Oct 27, at Mentor Public Library’s Main Branch, 8215 Mentor Ave. Art instructor Stephanie Royko will help lead the project.

The library only asks that people register beforehand at www.mentorpl.org or by calling the library at 440-2558811, ext. 210.
